Ross Vexsis

The Ross Vexsis fly rod reels are packed with the latest Ross technology and engineering. The Vexsis drag system is based on the Ross Momentum’s series Carbon Fiber design, but Ross has modified the drag system on the Vexsis series by adding ceramic that improves the overall performance even more. The drag system on the Vexsis is a push type system that uses a Carbon Fiber/Rulon/Ceramic/Aluminum stack up that maximizes the benefits of these materials. There are many properties of Carbon Fiber that benefits this system: strength, heat resistance, consistency, shock dampening and fatigue resistance. With the addition of ceramics, the overall design is strengthened. The ceramic makes the surface incompressible and extremely heat resistant. You get the perfect fly reel braking system with these elements being combined together in the correct sequence.

The Ross Vexsis reels feature a MagnaLock spool release. This is a system that is driven by magnets. There are four Ni-Cu-Ni (nickel copper nickel) plated grade N40 magnets that secures the spool to the frame. This system offers an operational life of more than 1000 years, so you’re ensured that these reels with always perform, and without a hitch.

The Vexsis reels have a greater drag range and usability than any other reel on the market. The drag knob uses a multi-ball thrust bearing drag which gives you a constant mechanical feel when rotating the drag knob. No matter how much drag you apply, the drag knob rotation is effortless.

Every reel in the Ross Vexsis series is made with a specific diameter and width, offering you the best drag consistency and quick line retrieval. The twin pawl style of escapement on these reels allows you to convert the direction of retrieval from your left hand to right hand with just a quick turn of the escapement cover. No tools are needed and the conversion can be done in less than one second.

The Ross Vexsis reels are ideal for using in all fresh water and salt water environments. There are five reels in the series with a fly rod coverage of between 2 weight and 9 weight.
