The Ross CLA fishing reel is an affordable hybrid large arbor fly reel that bears the name of one of Ross Reel’s oldest and most popular series, the Cimmarron reel. The CLA (Cimmarron Large Arbor) reel series incorporates Ross’ newest generation drag mechanism that is incredibly smooth, resistant to heat and provides outstanding stopping power. The CLA reel is as durable and as affordable as the Cimarron, but it offers a stronger drag, more pleasant incoming and outgoing sound, hybrid large arbor configuration and a more innovative conversion mechanism that discerning anglers have come to expect in a modern, high-end fly reel. Every reel in this series is designed with a specific diameter and width which maximizes the drag properties and consistency and line retrieval. Improvements have been made to the CLA sizes four through seven to support their use when going after big fish. The 4-7 reels have a larger drag knob, spool cap and handle. Most importantly, these reels have a stronger drag system. For fast running fish, these larger four sizes ensure smooth performance and they have oil impregnated brushings for smooth spool rotation. The spool and frame are also reinforced to eliminate flexing. The CLA series offers a wide range of sizes, making these reels appropriate for any application, including Spey.
